Chartered Building Surveyor 

As a Chartered Building Surveyor, you will play a vital role in supporting Watts in the next stage of growth working with and supporting the Commercial Building Surveying team. The role involves delivering high quality core building surveying services and contributing to the overall team success.

You will work closely with cross functional teams, stakeholders, and management to drive success & achieve organisational objectives, contributing to the development of the business.

It is not expected that you will be expert in all areas and training and support will be given to develop your knowledge.

The Role

Main duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Undertake core project and professional building surveying work.
  • Development of client relationships and repeat business through delivery of proactive professional services.
  • Manage and provide advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of various commercial and residential properties.
  • Analyse and report on building defects.
  • Undertake technical due diligence surveys.
  • Provide advice and prepare schedules of dilapidations.
  • Acting as a role model and demonstrate all company values.
  • Actively collaborate with colleagues in cross selling the services of the company and seeking out potential further work from existing commissions
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
  • Networking and company representation
  • Contribute towards the requirements of the business plan.

Your profile

You have a degree qualification in a relevant discipline and ideally will be a member of a professional body such as RICS, CIOB or APM.  A strategic thinker with commitment to maintaining high standards of practice.

 You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and work well as part of a team.

 You are self-reliant but willing to learn and develop.

 Full clean UK driving license.

 You will have experience in delivering work in a consultancy environment, keen to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities working at Watts can offer.

  • Excellent understanding of commercial property, the wider market and sector drivers.
  • Excellent technical knowledge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members, stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Ability to develop junior colleagues, providing clear direction, and possessing the ability to motivate team members to achieve common goals.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and self-motivated.
  • Excellent time management and general organisational skills.
  • Understanding of budgeting, financial management, and cost control to ensure projects stay within budget constraints.
  • The ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Willing to “go the extra mile” to deliver high quality services to our clients.
