Watts Group Limited commits to Net Zero

Watts Group Limited is pleased to announce that it has signed the Net Zero climate pledge with the SME Climate Hub and now joins an international community of businesses across the globe in making this SME Climate Commitment.

Watts is proud to be counted in the United Nations Race to Zero campaign, and it shares this commitment with worldwide governments, businesses, cities, regions, and universities who share the same mission, values, and sustainability goals. Through the SME Climate Hub programme, Watts is now taking active measures to identify its role within the climate crisis, take responsibility to make change and put strategies in place to reduce greenhouse gas emissions whilst also improving in-house education around sustainability issues within the construction industry and wider community.

Watts have committed to:

• Halve its greenhouse gas emissions before 2030.
• Achieve net zero emissions before 2050.
• Disclose and register our progress toward meeting these targets on an annual basis.

Lead Director Iain MacLaren who recently attained his Climate Solutions Management qualification from Strathclyde University commented: “this is a watershed moment for the Watts business as we implement a clear and informed strategy in how we reduce our carbon footprint and ensure an accountable and transparent process in the way our carbon emission metrics are recorded, reported, and most importantly reduced. Whilst only the first step in our journey, the partnership with SME Climate Hub will give us the support, tools and resources to realise our ambitions in this respect ”.

 The SME Climate Hub accreditation itself is a third-party verification system which demonstrates that Watts has committed to key environmental initiatives as it moves toward becoming a Net Zero carbon emission business. The benefits of this sustainable business certification go well beyond a certificate of proof; the process itself is regularly tracked and reported to create a sustainable and committed culture around environmental awareness and social responsibility within the business.  Watts look forward to embracing our journey to Net Zero and will update on our key milestones moving forwards.
